A storyteller trying to find her voice, Malinda hopes to share experiences and histories with her community. As an emerging filmmaker, Malinda feels that there is a need to express, grow and initiate changes in the world through art. There is a need to create space where local community creativity is nurtured and welcomed. Influenced by images around her, Malinda tells visual stories that derive from her experience, as well tries to communicate and connect with others within her community. Malinda is motivated to play with different forms of visual media to gain greater understanding of the world around her. Her goals are to develop as a storyteller and work with others in her community to build an accessible, active and dynamic working cultural community, which uses art to understand the world, along with create solutions to their problems. Her recent works include Where are we?, an experiment with 16mm and super 8 film stock format, which painted isolation living within a modern city. It was a lonely bike ride through Detroit. It is currently going around various cities. Malinda is continuing her work of painting emotion through cityscapes in her next film, How are we?, which is currently in development, and her city of focus is going to be Windsor. The themes she focuses on is Migration, Development and Urban living in this changing world. She is building her working on building her film company called a docuvixen film, and currently collaborating on creating art and media space, where artist can create and collaborate... within Toronto, and currently is located in Walnut Studio's Loft-Art and Media Space...
